What is an Open & Affirming Church?

Open and Affirming is a designation for congregations, campus ministries, and other bodies in the United Church of Christ which make public statements of welcome into their full life and ministry to persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities. The shorthand for Open and Affirming is “ONA.”

Our congregation engaged in an ONA process during 2002 and 2003 which led to the adoption of our Open and Affirming statement on May 11, 2003.

We continue to work at living into the full potential of being an Open and Affirming congregation and finding new ways to share our message that all are welcome here.
