Our journey in faith is a life-long journey of seeking, learning, and digging deeper. Christian education is an integral part of our ministry at First Congregational UCC, offering opportunities for people of all ages to grow in faith, spirit, and love. Come join us!
Our primary educational opportunities for children, youth, and adults are offered on Sunday mornings at 9:30 A.M. Wherever you are on your faith journey, you will be welcomed. We want to learn from you, for your stories enrich our own story.
Our commitment to quality children's education begins with our willingness to be teachers. Teams or individuals can lead sessions with commitments as short or as long as you are able. Various rotations utilize different ways of learning. If you like working with computers, cooking, storytelling, music, movement, art, or drama, we can use your talent! We encourage your participation in our teaching ministry. If you have any questions or wish to join our enthusiastic group of teaching volunteers, please contact Sue Gerth, Board of Christian Education Presiding Officer.
A faith formation class in preparation for the rite of Confirmation is offered every other year. The class is open to junior and senior high youth who wish to prepare for confirmation. Youth work with mentors, parents, adult leaders and the pastor as they explore their faith. At the conclusion of the 8-month course, youth may then decide to confirm the promises made for them at their baptism and become full members of the church. For those not already baptized, baptism is a part of the confirmation service. For more information about confirmation, contact the pastor.
CrossRoads of ECM is a campus ministry at Kansas State University. “ECM” stands for Ecumenical Campus Ministry. It is a place of intersection where personal faith and social witness, Midwestern and International culture, Christianity and other world religions, scientific and religious world views, liberal and conservative theologies meet. It is a place where students seek to explore, discover, belong, and serve. CrossRoads is a cooperative venture of United Church of Christ, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and Presbyterian Church (USA) congregations. For more information, click here.
