Need to be with other people today? Need a quick blessing? Want to take a break from your newsfeed and look other human beings in the eye? Pastor Caela will be at Radina's in Aggieville from 1:00-4:00pm today (note the extended hours). Stop by for a prayer, a cup of coffee, or just to visit. Feel free to bring a friend.
On November 6, we join with Christians around the globe in remembering our saints on All Saints Day. We invite you to remember the saints in your own life by bringing along an item that represents the person you wish to honor. We will have a table set up in Pioneer-Blachly for your items. Your saint might be a relative or friend. They might be someone famous that you've never met. A saint is simply someone who has gone before us and has showed us how to live. We remember their lives and honor them the first Sunday in November. You may want to bring a photograph, keepsake, newspaper article, or some other memento. We'll have cards available for you to write the saint's name and we can all browse the items during Fellowship Hour. Don't forget to set you clocks back one hour before your go to bed on Sunday. We'll also be taking a deep breath before the election during worship this Sunday. Calling all children! Rehearsals for the 2016 Christmas Pageant begin this Sunday, Nov. 6th at 9:30 a.m. (don't forget to set your clocks back before you go to bed Saturday night). The pageant is for children of all ages and will be under the director of our Director of Children's Ministries, Andria Anderson. To learn more or volunteer, contact Andria. The pageant will be offered as the sermon during worship on Sunday, Dec. 11th. Adults are welcome to drop their children off for pageant rehearsal or join us for our Adult Sunday School opportunities. If you are pregnant or have a baby, toddler, preschooler, or elementary school aged child, Mrunch is for you! Parenting young children is hard work....and it's better done with a village. We gather about once a month for a moms-only brunch on Saturday morning (child care available upon request). There is always a topic of the day and we take turns facilitating conversation. From time-to-time we read a book together or plan other social events. This month we gather on Saturday, Nov. 5th at one of our members' homes. We'll be making freezable dinners for one of the families in our congregation that is about to welcome a new baby.
Many thanks to everyone who turned in a 2017 pledge card on or before Stewarship Sunday. We have about 50 pledges of support, which is wonderful! If you weren't here this past Sunday or are still making determinations about your pledge, no worries. You are welcome to turn it in to the office any time. We will be hearing more about how the budget is shaping up (and reviewing the 2017 slate of officers) at our Congregational Meeting on November 13, right after worship. I am so thankful for those who are providing leadership during this season as we work on plans for 2017. Our Stewardship Committee (Jean Hill, Marcia McFarland, Craig Weston) and our Nominating Committee (Mary Ellen Barkley, Brent Maner, Ann Smit) have been especially hard at work. Please thank them when you see them.
