Sunday, August 20 we will have a Blessing of the Backpacks during worship. Children are invited to bring their backpacks and receive a blessing as they return to school. We are thrilled that the Ministry of the Decorative Scissors is again providing the custom-made backpack trinkets for our children. "Big kids" and adults are welcome to bring along their briefcases, diaper bags, work uniforms or other items that represent their daily work in the world. We will also bless those who are returning to teaching – whether that’s in a college classroom, an elementary school, or at home with young children.
If you consider yourself to be a young adult and are looking to connect with other young adults in our community, consider joining this monthly gathering. Those with and without children are welcome. The group typically gathers for a potluck in someone's home or out in the community each month. The August gathering is on August 19th in the home of David and Jared Hoff. Questions? contact David Williams (email or text/call), who coordinates the group.
Feast and Festival will kick off our church year on August 20,2017 at 6:00. We will be joining our church and Second Helping family for dinner and dessert. Vegan options will be provided. We encourage you to bring your own table service but paper goods will be provided. The cake walk is back by popular demand and the Ministry of Decorative Scissors will have a crafting table set up.Monetary donations are being requested for the meal and sugar like donations are being requested for the cake walk.
Children in elementary school are invited to join us for acolyte training on Sunday, August 27th at 10am. Kids will leave Sunday School early that day to meet up with Andria and Pastor Caela in the sanctuary. We'll invite the older kids who have already been acolytes help train the younger and new ones. We look forward to welcoming a new group of acolytes into our rotation. If you have questions, please contact Andria.
School supply lists are out. College students will soon be filling the town. Summer is coming to a close. This August, join us as we go back to school with Jesus. We'll spend the month of August exploring some of his parables during worship and we kick off this four week sermon series on August 6th with a special Jazz Worship and a sermon on what it means to be a disciple. And...save the date for August 20th. We'll be blessing backpacks and teachers during worship that day and partying at Feast and Festival that night. The 20th is also our kick-off date for new classes for kids, youth, and adults at 9:30 a.m.
